I’ve got a little secret to tell you. You matter. This sounds cheesy, but it’s true. Now, I’m probably not the one to really give advice on this, but I’m doing it anyway. You are enough, BUT! Huge ‘but’ here. That’s only true if you believe it to be true. You have to believe that you matter, that you are more than enough, that you are great, that you are worthy, that you are important. If you don’t believe it, who else will?

What do you think…someone is going to see you one day and tell you, “hey, you’re enough” (like I’m doing now) and all of a sudden you’re going to think, “oh em gee, you’re right! I am!” Absolutely not. That’s not how it works. And honestly that’s why I’m skeptical about even writing this. I can’t convince you of it if you don’t already believe it.

Truthfully, I don’t want to convince you of that. You have to believe it on your own, so start now. Deep down, somewhere inside you, even if you feel dark and alone and sad and hurt and miserable, you have to find that spark and ignite it. I’m just going to pour cheese sauce all over you until you believe it.

Life is what YOU make it.

Not what anyone else makes it. Life is not what happened to you. You are not what has happened to you. Yes, beautiful and horrible events shape you and your life. But they do NOT define you.

My grandma once said: “If you want to be happy, keep smiling.” That really stuck with me. It’s one of my all-time favorite quotes now.

So maybe you’re not even happy yet, why don’t you try smiling? Another quote coming your way. My aunt always says: “Fake it ‘til you make it.”

Go ahead and plaster a smile on your face. It may not feel real day one, week one or month one, but when you have a smile on your face, you emit positive energy. You spew sunshine out to the world and therefore you receive sunshine in return.

Again, if something bad happens, of course, you can be sad, mad etc. Feel it, experience it, let it in, then work on moving forward.

One day, I bet that fake smile will turn into a real smile full of happiness and joy. Because once you start acting happy and living life to its fullest, happiness and fulfillment follow suit.

If you want love, give love. If you want kindness, give kindness. If you want confidence, inspire confidence in others.

You decide what you want in life, so put those things out in the world in order to see those things become a reality. It’s never too late.

Maybe you’ve been depressed, maybe you’ve been a bitch, maybe you’ve done wrong. So make a change and make it now. Because only you can change your life.

I’m not telling you to forget what has happened in your past, but do your best to prevent negativity in your past from hindering positivity in your future.
