The Glass Castle easily just became one of my all-time favorite books. I fell in love with this story and with the family that this book is based on, through the ups and the downs. The Glass Castle is a memoir written by Jeannette Walls. It is the true story of the wild lives she and her family lived from as early on as she can remember until current day.

The Walls family is the epitome of a dysfunctional family, but somehow…they function, just barely. And that’s what I love the most about this book. This is reality. This is family and this is a story of low lows and high highs that will bring a smile to your face along with some tears.

Rex Walls is the father who is highly intelligent, perhaps a little crazy and an alcoholic, while his wife is a creative woman who loves to go with the flow. Rex has a hard time keeping a job and his wife has a hard time wanting a job, which leaves them with very little money to take care of their kids, yet somehow they scrape by.

This is a story of love, family, betrayal, disappointment, celebration, hurt, success, pain, anger and joy all wrapped up into a fairly quick read with chapters that you will blow right through.

I cannot recommend this book more and to wrap this review up, The Glass Castle was made into a movie that was released this month! I recently saw this movie and was so pleased with how it translated onto the big screen. Hope you enjoy!
