Today is my first day of esthetician school! I’m very excited, but I have to admit that I’m also nervous. It’s crazy that I’m going back to school after so many years of being out. I graduated college in 2012, so here I am five years later returning to school, though in a very different way. I know esthetician school will be unlike most schooling from my past, as it will be very hands on and it will finally be something that I’m very interested in, which makes me look forward to it.

I’m also looking forward to being back in a regular routine. After freelancing for a year and a half without full-time work, I’ve found that this is probably not the best path for me. But I’m thankful that I went through this experience because it helped me find myself in a new way. And it helped give me the time to launch this blog and to decide that going to esthetician school is something I really want to do.

I feel like we’re in a time where change is not just accepted but is encouraged. I love that I went to school for journalism and pursued writing for several years, and I won’t stop writing now, but skincare is a new passion for me that came about a few years ago. It’s not something I ever would have considered five or ten years ago, and that’s ok. Because here I am now with another passion, and this is the direction my life is going in now. I can’t promise that it will go in that direction forever, but I’m ok with that. Here and now, this is what I want to do. And I couldn’t be more thrilled! I’m excited to update this blog as time goes on with my progress in school and the things I’ve learned, so stay tuned for lots of skin tips that are on the way.
