I’ve heard so much good about apple cider vinegar. But I always end up feeling sick when I take a shot of it. That’s right, I said a shot. Stupid me. Why would I continue taking shots of this when it makes me feel sick? Clearly I can’t handle it in shot form.

Soooo, instead of giving up on it, I’ve found a workaround.

Enter the elixir.

It’s not really much of an elixir, I just love the idea of elixirs, potions, tonics, magical potions etc.

What you’ll need:

Hot agua

1 tablespoon ACV (not the whole damn shot, like I took)

1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup, your call)

Juice of half a lemon

Directions:

  1. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon in a mug.
  2. Add tablespoon of ACV and tablespoon of your sweetener of choice.
  3. Fill with hot water to the top.

Now, you don’t have to drink it just like this. I personally love to add a ginger or green tea bag so it has more good flavor (and added benefits!) as opposed to just drinking a watered down, much laaaaarger ACV shot. If you drink this before eating, it can even help limit some of your body’s carb absorption! Throw in some cayenne too if you’re feeling spicy!
