My boyfriend inspires me in a lot of ways. But one of those ways that I have recently adopted is his devotion to journaling. He does this every morning. He just sits down with a cup of coffee and some music and gets to it.

I never know what’s in that journal of his, but it sure seems to relax him and get him set for a good day.

Which makes sense.

It’s a great way to get out any of your thoughts, dreams, wishes, goals for the day, issues that are weighing on your mind.

I’ve been hearing how handy and helpful and blah, blah, blah this is for a while now, which is why I gave it a shot. But I’m going to tell you right now. There is no magic quick fix for anything. You have to believe in what you’re doing in order to reap the benefits.

Now what I really recommend is not forcing yourself into it. If you don’t feel like writing on a certain day, don’t do it! Feeling like I HAD to write every. single. day. really turned me off for a while. I felt like this was almost a hoax and I didn’t feel like I was getting much out of it initially. But now, if I have something really weighing on my mind, I make sure to write it down.

This has helped me to write down creative dreams of mine that I plan to turn into something more down the line. This has helped me work through issues with loved ones in terms of trying to understand them and reach a solution. It’s also helped me keep track of goals and things I want to do. No matter how big or small.

Take your time with this and be open-minded. Whenever you find yourself thinking about something of importance, write it down. Read through it all later or don’t. It’s up to you. Either way, this practice can be verrry therapeutic when it’s not seen as a chore. Approach it however you like.
