A cookie a day keeps the cravings at bay. Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. That is exactly what I’m trying to tell you.

Ever been on a diet? Ever told yourself you’ll start tomorrow? Every binge eaten an entire box of Cap’n Crunch? I know I have. And it sucks! It’s not sustainable. And by it, I mean deprivation.

Now, I’m sure we’ve all heard the whole, “it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle” thang before. And…to be honest…it’s so very true. That is the only way to sustain healthy eating, healthy living, fitness routines, adequate nutrition. That is to realize that this is a lifestyle. Not a quick fix. Not a fad. Not a temporary thing.

Now, when I used to try to adopt this “lifestyle” in times past, I always failed. By bingeing. I’d do so well, eat so healthy, no sweets, low calories, work out and then BOOM! Binge session.

Whyyyyyy? That’s what I would ask myself. I’ll tell you why. It’s because I was depriving myself of energy, calories, rest days and the good things in life! And deprivation…Does. Not. Work.

Instead, I challenge you to eat “a cookie a day.” Now, you don’t have to actually eat a chocolate chip cookie every day, nor am I suggesting you have a “cheat meal” every day. Instead, I am suggesting you have one thing that you really want every day. Hot chocolate? Go for it. Want a small milk chocolate bar, aka not dark chocolate that tastes like shit? Have at it. Interested in a slice of pizza? It’s all yours.

Trust me on this. Your “cookie” will keep your cravings at bay and will also ensure that you maintain this lifestyle, rather than sabotaging your diet. Enjoy!
